After much deliberation decided to go for the KDL-40EX503, very pleased with my choice. Picture is excellent and the settings to tweak are abundant. In built HD freview and guide is very good. I'll keep the review short so to conclude you won't be disappointed with the KDL-40EX503. All in all the KDL-40EX503 is worth its weight in gold, colours are natural and motion flow is execellent, sound is adequate but recommend running through a sound system if you can. A highly recommended set

The 40EX503 is an excellent TV for an excellent price. Freeview HD is superb as is my SKY HD. Internet TV is also excellent, just need a Blu-Ray player to go with it now. No wonder the KDL-40EX503 won best 40" buy in What Hi-Fi magazine. (It's 46" and 37" siblings won in their class too).

After alot of deliberation and research I opted to buy the Sony Bravia KDL-40EX503. Some of the negative reviews did worry me, but thankfully I bit the bullet and ordered it from Amazon. I'm totally in love with it. It was easy to set up and tune in. I was worried about the picture I would get, but I can't fault it at all, both analogue and digital pictures are clear. The sound is crisp and clear. Do yourself a favour and buy the KDL-40EX503!

I bought the KDL-40EX503 a couple of weeks ago now and I can tell you that it is excellent. Believe the reviews you have read! I mainly use my LCDs for Blu-Ray and XBox 360. I was slightly concerned by one review which mentioned something like 60ms of 'input lag' when playing games...this nearly made me cancel my order as I do a lot of gaming! However, I took the risk and I am very pleased to report that the KDL-40EX503 will meet all you demands and probably more...Input lag, what input lag??? There is NO noticeable lag whatsoever that you will be able to physically see, so do not be scared off by one review. I have been powering out Call of Duty Black Ops, Halo Reach, Fable 3 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 - they look amazing and the KDL-40EX503 is totally responsive to the controls.
KDL-40EX50 Review 5;
The picture quality and the colours on the KDL-40EX503 are immense, strong and vibrant. There are different scene settings for different viewing modes which come in useful. The sound is fine...again, I read some reviews about the so called 'poor' sound...what a load of tosh...there is nothing wrong with the sound on this set. I also have the KDL-40EX503 linked into a Yamaha RXV765 A/V receiver along with an active subwoofer to complete the cinema experience. In a nut shell...buy the KDL-40EX503, enjoy it and you will not regret it.

There really is nothing to criticise about the KDL-40EX503. Set-up is easy and fast. (Amazingly it seems less heavy to place into position than our last 32in Sony). Picture brilliant. Sound very good. Connections at the back a bit different to previous Sony models but just takes a bit of thought e.g. only two scarts and an HDMI connection plus the usual phono type plug-ins. Two interesting things though about the KDL-40EX503, the first perhaps obvious, if you do not have a particularly strong Freeview signal (depending on where you live it may not come up to full power for a while) it may not tune the HD channels - perfectly OK on the normal ones. Secondly, I found that you cannot switch the KDL-40EX503 off by remote - it always goes to standby. I asked Sony about this and they said that, yes, this was a new feature as if you switch of entirely you will lose some programming on the Guide set-up. The only way if you wish is to unplug it! Not a real problem as the KDL-40EX503 only uses very minimal power - 0.2w if Quick Start is not enabled. So overall the KDL-40EX503 is a great TV and a very good buy.
